Dear Members and Friends,
the webinar “Chinese Standards & Compliance for European Exporters”, organized in collaboration with the EU SME Centre and the Seconded European Standardisation Expert in China (SESEC) Project, has been held on January 28th, 2021.
The webinar was opened by CICC Secretary General, Giulia Gallarati, who gave the attendees an introduction about the CICC and the EU SME Centre.
The speakers contributed to make the event a great opportunity for the attendees to get a deeper understanding on standards and compliance for exported products from Europe to China. Firstly, Dr. Betty XU, Seconded European Standardization Expert in China, offered an overview of Chinese standardization system, presenting how it is structured and how to identify relevant information.
Following, Dr. Martina Gerst, Senior Technical Adviser for Market Access China, provided guidance and practical tips on how to ensure that products exported from the EU and China are in compliance with relevant Chinese standards and technical requirements, both under normal trade and cross-border e-commerce; as well as for key sectors such as F&B, consumer products, and cosmetics.
At the end of the seminar, attendees were able to deepen the topics mentioned during the Q&A session.
The webinar was the first of a webinar series to be organized in the field of standards, conformity assessment and compliance in China. In fact, standards and compliance remain one of the main reasons why products exported from the EU to China encounter delays at the Chinese customs. The webinar series aims to address this issue by increasing the awareness of EU exporters; it will focus on horizontal issues, as well as on specific industries where EU exporters have a large presence in China.
